Meet our Lounge Legends, young women who have each experienced unique and emotional journeys with cancer.... be prepared to feel empowered, a little emotional and totally inspired!
“It could potentially be life saving for you to just have taken it seriously and realised this is something that has changed in my body. You know your body better than anyone else…”
Hearing “you’ve got cancer” has been the most beautiful tragedy of my life. Major oxymoron but I wouldn’t be the woman I am today, unapologetically me and truly thankful for life if it wasn’t for the big C.
I was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma in August 2018, two operations, months of chemotherapy and a month of radiotherapy until I was graced with the wonderful word remission.
I feel incredibly blessed to call myself a survivor.
The campaign is so much more than a pretty pink new thong (which is incredibly comfortable and flattering) it’s given cancer patients a platform and is providing crucial information. The campaign brought together women of all races, ages and diagnosis and is one of the most empowering things I have ever done.
Raising awareness = saving lives.
Informing people of the signs/symptoms to look out for and allowing those on their cancer journey know they aren’t alone. Speaking openly about cancer and all its challenges helps to break taboos and gives people a community they can discuss any worries, share the good news or find a Netflix recommendation.
You know your body better than anyone else, if something doesn’t feel right, go to your GP. Being persistent is what eventually got me to my diagnosis. Words to remember – ‘the pain you’ve been feeling cannot compare to the joy that is coming.
“A bad day is ok, and it happens to everyone… but don’t let a bad day be a bad life! It’s not the end of the world - and you can get through it. You’re a lot stronger than you think you are.”
